I’m so excited right now! Meryl Streep, one of the greatest actresses EVER, won Best Actress for her portrayal of Margaret Thatcher in “The Iron Lady”. She received a standing ovation and everyone was very happy for her, but I think the best news of the evening goes to” The Artist”. The film won the following awards:

Best Picture

Best Actor – Jean Dujardin

Best Director – Michel Hazanavicius

Jean was giddy throughout his acceptance speech. I loved his opening line: “I love your country!” And I loved the way he closed his speech by yelling something in French and then dancing a little jig as he eventually left the stage. Go Jean!

It does seem like France is delivering some great films with acclaimed performances by their lead actors. At the  2007 Oscars, Marion Cotillard won the Best Actress award for her role as Edith Piaf in “La Vie En Rose”.

Congrats to “The Artist”!

More congrats to Octavia Spencer for her Best Supporting Actress win for “The Help”!
